Rear Bumper

This is a rough first copy of our new FJ rear bumper. The final product will be allot cleaner. But this gives you an idea of the lines we are going with.

A few things that were asked for and you got.

Rear back up lights
Rear back up sensors (they won't be in the current locations)
Tire swing out will be an option and bolt to the bumper.
Instead of a side step we made the top flat so you could use it as a step.
The back of the bumper is not any farther out than the frame and not any lower than the frame so you loose no departure angle or rear clearance.
3\16in construction with 1\4in mounting support brackets.
The factory hitch should fit right over the bumper (we haven’t test fitted it yet)
1\2in shackle points
We will offer an "off-road receiver" as well that mounts straight out the back instead of on the bottom like the factory hitch.

Any questions ask away.

I could only attach one picture here. But there are more pics here>>DeMello rear FJ bumper - TTORA Forum

Re: Rear Bumper

I like what you're doing with this. A Lot!

Is the swinging arm tire mount going to be strong enough to allow a 5 gallon fuel can to be mounted behind the tire? Is it possible to include that sort of option? If you do that in addition to what you've done, you'll dominate the market in my opinion.

The rear gate will bolt to this bumper. We made some brackets that reinforce this bumper. You can't see them in the pics but they should provide all the support you need for a tire gate.

the tire gate will move the spare to the driver side as much as possible to help with the rear line of sight out the rear window. A gas can/amo can mount will be an option on the passenger side. Were going to try some new stuff on the gate to make it super light. And it will be a complete bolt on option. So you can buy the bumper now and the gate later.

Re: Rear Bumper

That gap in the rear between the body and bumper is huge Jason. Any reason other than this is a prototype? I don't see this on any other products out there. The pics also make it appear to droop towards the rear. Optical illusion? Grab your cam and take a bunch more pics, and get out the rattle can lol.

Great work! Can't wait to see this out on the market. Hopefully, production will catch up and your other suppliers/distributors will be able to get some stockage as well.

I'm not sure where you are looking.

We put the top of the bumper as low as possible to make room for a bigger tire and the tire carrier.

There is a gap in-between the sides and the plastic but I don't think you can see it in the pics. and this is because it's a prototype.

I looked at the pictures again I think you mean under the door. and yes this is for a larger tire. You can't go any higher on the bottom of the bumper because the frame is right there. We could have made the top taller but it would just add more weight. Plus we want to make room for the tail gate.

It's funny you mention that. I was actully thinking it was too close to the back door..lol

Re: Rear Bumper

great idea making it upgradeable to tire gate. It would be great to have options for the gate too, like a fuel mount, or hilift mount.

and ballpark pricing in mind?

No idea on price yet. Were going to keep in competitive with everyone elses.

Yep, talking about this:

I've been looking very closely at rear bumpers to get one on this summer. The others don't leave this gap. It might not look so noticable after powder coating but I want to understand your design as compared to the others.

It may be an optical illusion but the gap line doesn't even look straight.
