Re: Pics of my bumper

Sorry to hear of the problems. But I assure you as others have that Demello will make it right. I waited about 9 weeks for my DO bumper, but it was worth the wait and I realized they were moving shop and they were looking for a new powdercoater. When mine arrived it was so well wrapped it took about 1/2 an hour just to get the packaging off.

Re: Pics of my bumper

I feel what the OP is saying. I've got the DO bumper too. When I recieved it, the powder coat was jacked up at the recovery points and some of the corners of the bumper. I chalked that one up to the shipping. Not neccessarily blaming Jason and his crew but for over $1k spent, I think it could have been wrapped a little better.

I've got the Acro lights too and they are not recessed at all, I tried reversing the mounts on the lights and didn't help much. Still haven't figured out what to do. The bumper's mounting points also didn't line up exactly but could be manufacturing tolerances (of the FJ not the bumper). I ended up breaking the spot welds on the bolts to get the thing lined up.

I too had to wait a bit longer than expected to recieve my bumper, something like 3.5 months (I was told 6 weeks), eventhough my credit card was charged way before I recieved it.

At the end of it all, DO makes great products. I think a lot of the problems I've encountered as well as the OP comes with dealing with smaller shops like Jason's (he was working on sbechtold's and Air2Air's FJs at the time), not enough hands.

Blaise, I understand your frustration, but you'll be satisfied in the end. I'm sure DO will take care of you. BTW, I never contaced DO about any of the above stuff. I was just glad to have the bumper on. And for all the other people who's feathers are ruffled cause Blaise spoke up, give him a break, he has the $1000 right to me mad.

Re: Pics of my bumper

And, send some pics that actually show something. Those are about the worst pics I have seen trying to get something fixed. As others have stated, airing your complaint on the internet before sending Demello an email with the pics attached is bad form. Its a good thing your are dealing with a stand up guy because other companies might not be so tolerant of public whining.

So, if I understand things correctly, you would rather have your FJ sitting without a bumper, waiting for Demello to send a new one rather than "adjust" the one you have to fit, right? I'll bet this is the first time you have tried anything like this and you expected it to go together like your Star Wars Legos?

Grow up, deal with your anxiety issues that it wasn't perfect, search within and wonder why you assumed that the lights came with the wiring kit or why you didn't ask what did come with it and grab a round file and/or drill to massage the holes enough to get your bumper on. Or, you can just call your daddy and see if he will beat up Jason to get you a new bumper...

Re: Pics of my bumper

Come on guys he has a right to let us all know what we might want to avoid and vent. Lots of money the part should at least fit. Four month wait I would have cancelled my order after 30 days. Shipping scrap ok but the rest of his B*tch is solid. Lets start a poll and take votes : )
