You're very welcome. I "borrowed" those pics of wrigman's from his build-up thread. Measured from the FJ frame rails, the DO sliders stick out 15 inches (or about 2.5" from the widest point of the FJ doors). I had the factory sliders before and the DO version stick out ~1.5" more and just wide enough for me to use as steps. Here are a few more photos of mine. The standard version sticks out the same distance.

very nice....thank you all!!
TC....thanks brother those pics look awesome!! loving these sliders more and more.....can you tell me, how far do the stick out from the sides....I have seen other sliders that flare out and hate the look, I want something close......also if you are not terribly busy could I ask one more favor of you? the last pic of your buddys FJ could you take a side pic like that but looking down the length of the sliders.....want to see how they look from that angle
DO sliders are the best all pro are nice but the DO's stick out perfectly and there stout and then add the customer service from jason and his team to the mix and you have the best on the market hands down
and fyi im a very large man and these sliders are beefy (i grunted lifting them) so they will keep your quarter panels safe and sound!

Kinda hard to explain, but let me try.
On the standard sliders the tubes for the mounts are butted up to the tube that goes under the door. On TCao's sliders, the tubes for the mounts have a notch cut into them so that the tube that goes under the door fits INSIDE the notch not butted up to it. Check out the pic's that TCao posted and you'll see what I talking about.

nope didnt understand that at all........sorry my brain is like mush right now(fighting off a cold) explain to me the difference between the 2 like I am a 5yr old lol thanks guys
The only difference between the standard and custom DO sliders are the way the four supports are welded onto the square tubing. The standard has the miter cut (straight) where the custom sliders have the notched cut. The notched cut moves the weld up about 1/4" onto the square tubing and looks a little cleaner (but a real pain to make unless a laser cutter is used).

Everyone has there own way of building sliders and it really comes down to two trains of thought.
The Alpro sliders shown, from what I have read are designed to push you around rocks or obstacles on the trail.
The DeMello Sliders we build are designed as a last resort, I would prefer to miss any obstacles on the trail and drive over them with my tires. This is why we keep them tucked up nice and tight.
There are other reasons we make them the way we do. The shorter the distance between the inner and outer tube the less chance you will have for bending the tubes, less leverage in-between these tubes makes the sliders very strong. We also believe the tighter you keep your sliders to the vehicle the less chance you will have snagging on stuff on the trail. Especially in a lower wider vehicle like the FJ where every bit of ground clearance and side to side clearance is key to making it out of a trail with out getting stuck to much. The kick out design at first glance seems like a great idea to kick you around a rock, but what happens when it ends right at the wheel it puts that rock right into your wheel, wouldn't it be better to drive over that rock instead of around it? Or what if it's a tree or something taller when that kicks out ends it leaves you with a pretty big gap of sheet metal as a target. IMO it is usually better to miss the obstacle then to hit it with your slider or drive over it.
They are simply two different ways of doing something. Pick which ones you like better and I will see you on the trails.
they dont need to be welded on. I've abused mine pretty hard over the last year and theyve never budged.
The welded nuts toyota puts on our frame are suffecient.
I like my demellos, very stout. Ive taken some serious hits on them, and only suffered some minor dings in them
Is there really that much of Gap between the sliders and the rocker panel ? Or is that just an optical illusion ??
I want to get the new DO tube sliders but that gap on these is kinda buggin me. Anybody have some pics from a side view thats at the same level as the sliders ???
