Pizza Cutters?

I just got a set of stock steelies 265/70/17" and I'm looking to get AT tires that are narrow and tall. Will a 285/75/R17 or a 35/12.50/R17 work. I have 325/60/20 on BBS rims now. I just want to use these on the street and the steelies to play off road. As I said I want Tall 35"s and Narrow 10.5 " if there is such tire.
I read somewhere that Nitto were coming out with this?

Re: Pizza Cutters?

I know that the SS LTB has a 34x10.5x17 tire that some people on the forum are running them. If you want a bit smaller, then there is the BFG KM2s with 255/80/17.

Yes; I'm running Toyo Open Country MT's in 285/75/17 on stock steelies. They are 34" tall. Nitto (same company as Toyo) makes an AT in that size also.

Re: Pizza Cutters?

The 285/75-17 Nitto Terra Grappler looks like the best option for the size you want. I couldn't come up with anything in our system that is closer to 35" in rolling diameter, keeping in mind the width you want to run. Anybody have any other suggestions?

Re: Pizza Cutters?

I've read a bit about the "narrow"-minded off-road philosophy. I've bought into it because I think that it will be great for both my FJs duty as a daily driver and as a trail rig.

As many others have said on this forum, if you go 35s, you should re-gear. I have the 6MT and am hoping that the lower gearing over the auto transmission will help out a bit when I get the new 34" Nitto Terra Grappler 285/75/17s put on in a couple of weeks...

Re: Pizza Cutters?

I am running the LTB's, they look awesome on the truck but the only thing all terrain about them is that they will run over anything. The tread is very aggresive and has gotten me through alot of stuff but during exceleration it sounds like a jet taking off. I would recommend these to any serious FJer. Although they should come with a free pair of ear plugs!
