Ever think about making a version of the "oh Sh!t" handles?

Fjoel,
How about a version of the internal shut up and hold on handles in the FJ? I've seen some versions but they were billet and very exspensive. Might be cool to have some color matched anodized sets out there. Just a thought...

Not a bad idea... and I have thought about it, but many people already offer them and here's why they cost so much:

Billet can't be bent. If those suckers are 6" long, 1" wide, and 1.5" thick I have to machine all that expensive aluminum away and throw it out as chips. Not a cost effective product at all. In the numbers I'd sell them I'd probably lose money... then I can't mod my FJ.

what about making it in three pieces? just a thought. and connecting them together either through bolts, or screws, or welds. I know nothing of working with aluminum. Just a thought I had.

Welding is also expensive (time and machinery). Plus, I imagine that getting the three pieces to line up correctly and not look like a 'garage special' would be difficult.

Maybe I can do something with this... I gotta get a solid price on the alum before I say any more.

I have actually found that most people, in my case at least, that try to get in the back...hike a leg up and reach for something to hold on to to hoist themselves up with. I really do think it would be a good idea if they rethought the absence oh the "Oh S**T" handles. Just my opinion....

That's why I spent the money for the billet ones. I knew it would always cost alot to make them and I hated the cheap plastic stock ones. So spent the higher buck to just get them. If anyone could just jump in, and make a cheap aluminum one, Joel would do it.

I certainly wouldn't mind seeing the result. or at least some kind of mock-up. I would be interested assuming the cost wasn't too bad.
