Re: Job Hunt.. Round #2

I used to work as a resident advisor for summer programs at some of our local universities. It was great for me because they took care of room, food and I did not have to drive anywhere and in 6 weeks I had a bunch of money I had not spent.

What about tree planting in the great white north...just think of all the access trails you could run.

Re: Job Hunt.. Round #2

Have you gone to any staffing agencies?

We make placements for a lot of seasonal workers, teachers and students are our best resource during the summer.

If you are interested, PM me and I will give you a referral to one of our local offices.

Some of this may have been said to be funny, but for real, your young, if you are looking for summer work, do something that is fun man, something to tell people about it when you get old like me....
Actually I wasn't joking about any of this... I would have loved to fight forest fires when I was young and had the chance, the guide job too. These would have been fun jobs to have for the summer. Now I have 4 kids and the regular payments to make. There is no way for me to take either of those jobs now.

This is one that I wouldn't like.... work like a dog doing the same think over and over all day every day... on the plus side... big money!

Re: Job Hunt.. Round #2

Dom-

Catalina Island hires lots of folks for the summer. It's a party all summer and the island is an amazing place. "Think girls, girls and more girls, all on vacation". Fishing, diving, kayaking and a lot more. I would choose the Ithsmus over Avalon because it's lots more relaxed and "country" but either place is a little bit of heaven.

Employment - Visit Catalina Island

The easiest to get is a job at a restaurant, they are never Not hiring.

What about fighting forest fires?? That's a job I wish I would have done when I was in school!! Up here you can make 30k in a season pretty easy, lots of mod money!!
I also wish I would have worked at a fishing lodge.

Oh well Safeway was good for me, at the end of the year I made the same as fighting fires and instead of taking others fishing I went 3 times a week myself!

Good luck with the job hunt!!
I'm actually gonna have to look into the forest service in general now.. i would n't mind driving around in 4 wheel drive all day

-

Thanks for all the idea's guys, i've already seen a bunch i would have never thought of

I actually almost got hired last summer on the boat (the big one) that runs from balboa to catalina. I just ended up with a better paying one.

My uncle is the current captain of the boat Catalina Flyer, and my dad was also about 25+ years ago.
