Reinforcing Steel (Anyone need a job?)

Is there anyone from the forum that does Estimating and Detailing for Reinforcing steel?

Must have experience with some sort of CAD program and substantial knowledge of reinforcing steel.

Anyone?

Re: Reinforcing Steel (Anyone need a job?)

It might help if you had some more detail on what you are looking for. There are a number of fabricators here including myself but "Reinforcing Steel" covers a lot of territory.

Oh and you might add if you need them local or can you do it anywhere and ship it to you.

FJoel would be my first suggestion if he has the time but he is in Canada.

lol I just looked at your location and you're up north there yourself. Joel is just outside Vancover BC.

Re: Reinforcing Steel (Anyone need a job?)

Are you referring to concrete reinforcing steel (ie rebar). I've got some experience in that area, but I don't have CAD capability. What kind of project have you got going on? Do you just need a quantity take-off or what?

Re: Reinforcing Steel (Anyone need a job?)

I'm sorry I guess I should have elaborated a bit. I work for a company that Estimates & Details off of structural drawings for building foundations. We also have fabricators that cut and bend the rebar into required lengths and shapes for the project.

We currently have a job that a contractor has given us as a test. The job is 900,000 kg of rebar that require both shop drawings and fabrication. As far as I know we are looking for 2 estimator/detailers for our branch and possibly up to 6 fabricators for various shifts.

It does not look like we have updated our website for employment opportunities but i assure we are looking.

Here's a link to the Company I work for.

Re: Reinforcing Steel (Anyone need a job?)

There are not many people out there that do this sort of work, it's almost as though it's overlooked. An experienced detailer can make a very comfortable living.

Re: Reinforcing Steel (Anyone need a job?)

You are right about that! Being a general contractor a good detailer should be able to write their ticket. When I was a project engineer I used to ask for the same guy because he was so good.
