Joshua Tree, Mojave Road, Death Valley

Well I can't believe it but the time is almost here. This Friday we depart on our great adventure through the desert. I hope to update our blog on the trail but that all depends on cell service!

We have some family and friends joining us for parts of the trip, so if anyone else would like to meetup on the trail to come and go please join us. Our tentative schedule:

Friday the 13th! Depart Phoenix for Joshua Tree
Saturday: Relaxing at JT..hopefully at Jumbo Rocks, hiking and lots of hammock time!
Sunday: Depart Joshua Tree north to Mojave Road
Monday: Mojave Road
Tuesday: Depart Mojave Road to DV Indian Village
Wednesday: DV
Thursday: DV
Friday: DV
Saturday: Depart DV and head to ? (as far as we can drive that day back to Phoenix!)

You can PM me for details. Our communication will be CB 16 and monitoring simplex on 146.46....we should be able to hear you a good 30 miles on that. Spot will be on also via our blog.

Wow that sounds like an awesome trip!! Wish I could join you, but it's just too far. Someday I'll make it back down there, but for now, just take lots of pictures for the rest of us

Re: Joshua Tree, Mojave Road, Death Valley

Hey guys I apologize, nobody posted here before we left so I figured nobody was interested! Let me catch you all up on some pics so far!

We decided to spend spring break this year going through parts of California we have always wanted to visit. It was also a great opportunity to catch up with some family we have been trying to camp with for a while.

Found some internets tonight in Death Valley. Our plans have changed a bit for this trip and we are taking more highways and biways than dirt at this point, but its always nice to spend some extra time family who live in another state.

Here are some pics from the Joshua Tree leg of the trip...hopefully I can update a bit more tomorrow morning before we start rolling again. No cell signal so far in DV so blog updates are going to have to wait for our return!

Re: Joshua Tree, Mojave Road, Death Valley

A few more before I run off to breakfast. We decided to head straight for DV instead of Mojave so we could hang with Josh's parents and their Roadtrek for a bit longer. Our destination was the hot springs at Tacopa and we ended up cutting across part of the preserve anyway through Kelso. Needless to say the hot springs weren't much more than a dusty trailer park with a pool when we arrived in Tacopa but we found an awesome spot for the night regardless a little up the road.
