Re: Someone Please Try

Why create a seperate thread for this when you already posted this in another sub-forum?

My 2007 FJ Gets 34MPG

I don't think you'll get a much different response by posting it in the members build section, and its likely that one of the mods is going to merege it all back into the other thread since this isn't posted in the correct forum. You had it posted in the right place the first time

Re: My 2007 FJ Gets 34MPG

I have found all that "water for gas" , "air management systems" and the like are total BS. If you want to increase your fuel economy do the following:
1: Run your tires at the max allowed pressure
2: Keep up on your preventative maint.
3: Take off any extra crap you have bolted on . ie: roof rack, fog lights, etc
4: Keep a VERY light right foot. Never go past 2000 rpm, don't pass
5: never tow anything

Doesn't that all sound like fun?!?!?! None of us bought FJ's for the fuel economy. You knew you were buying a 16/21 vehicle. Be happy if you can get 22-23mpg on the highway. OR... buy a Honda Fit and only drive the FJ when you need to tow or want to go offroad.
I wish I had the extra cash to have a second vehicle that got huge gas mileage. My wife and I have a camp an hour away from home... I think about 40mpg vehicles every time we make a run there in the FJ and we are only carrying a couple bags of clothes.

I ramble...Regardless, Don't buy an air twisty dohickie, a magnetic fuel line thingamajiggy, a mpg go juicer, or an electric gasifier whatchamacallit.

I agree; threads merged.

Mr.FJT, these kind of threads are irritating enough as it is, please don't keep creating new ones about the same thing.

As already mentioned, you'd be better off with one of these and a Mr Fusion...
Another fuel/time saving device....thoughts?

This company claims if you put this in your FJ you wil get a 60% increase in MPG and more HP. Tell me if this is true? I might buy it to see.

Double Cell Big Rig Unit - Alternative Gas Solutions
One of my former neighbors had an '07 lifted FJ manual trans with big tires and had a similar kit installed.

I had recently sold my TRD FJ and asked him what kind of mileage he was getting (out of curiosity) and that was when he told me that he was getting around 28mpg. He'd one of these kits installed.

I think he had told me 4 wheel parts, or something like that in Reno had installed it.

I really don't know if he was being honest, but he seemed to be.

Finally a person who is not close minded. I have researched this and a lot of truck drivers (big rigs) are using this and are getting 2-3 miles more per gallon.

I was seeing if I would get more or different responses. My Q's to you all is adding hydrogen to a fuel sys has been proven to increase fuel econ. What are your educated thoughts on why this will not work? When it is sold on FJ Cruiser parts stores. Including one's that sponsor this site.

Re: My 2007 FJ Gets 34MPG

According to the following NASA/Airforce Weapons Lab study, it DOES work:

http://ntrs.nasa.gov/archive/nasa/ca...1977016170.pdf

It's a long read but it's actually proven to work and work well but you need the right delivery system.

I remember asking my neighbor about his fuel economy because my TRD was stock and got 16mpg on average. I thought he must be getting 10mpg because he had 35" tires and huge lift.

Anyway I haven't really thought of it much since then but remember looking into afterwards and had found the above study.

Re: My 2007 FJ Gets 34MPG

Hydrogen fuel cell technology does work. Here is one example that I know of personally. I have followed this guy for a long time and asked him a lot of questions. He wasn't selling anything... just the opposite. He was trying to save people money and show them how to DIY for cheap. Unfortunately, I think he got tired of the politics and left the forum. Hydrogen On Demand - Toyota MR2 Message Board

I can't say whether or not this is a scam.... but, the idea is sound. That kit comes with a lot. I don't doubt for one minute that it COULD work. You're not going to be able to run on water alone though... you may not even have significant results to justify the purchase. But, if you are smart enough... you can do this for far less and save money.
