synthetic (Amsoil)

Hi all, I'm a newbie,, just picked up my fj on saturday, It's a demo model with 500 miles on it but I think I got a pretty good deal on it,,(seems hard to locate a black one, at least in my area) black diamond with some trd stuff in it and a bunch of other stuff, all i was really looking for was the upgrade package #2 and ended up with all this,, anyway has anyone switched to synthetic motor oil yet,, I planned on changing it next weekend with amsoil,, is too soon or should i wait till the 1k mark.

Thanks in advance,, Lenny

Re: synthetic (Amsoil)

You could do a search on it , but you'll end up with a 50/50 argument on both sides of the fence on when to change to synth...happy reading!

Re: synthetic (Amsoil)

I'd say do a 1k change w/reg oil then do a 6k change and go to amsoil. amsoil is exspensive but worth it you change it once a year and it works out to about the same as every 3k change

Re: synthetic (Amsoil)

There seems to be varying opinions about when to start using synthetics. Oddly enough, the Amsoil add was right below the last post and here's a link to the Amsoil warranty.Warranty Laws

Amsoil Turbo Formulated "Severe Duty" (p/n ATM) at the first oil change for me.

Exactly, Opinions! You said it correctly....

High end cars come with Synthetic oil already in them. BMW, VIPERS, CORVETTES, and etc...

STOP THE MYTH TRAIN. STOP THE INSANITY......PUT SYNTHETIC OIL IN ALL YOUR CARS.....ASAP! Don't wait. There is NO reason to wait!!

Please help stop these worthless threads......Adopt a Synthetic friend today..
