The most basic, simple and cheapest old school bangs for your buck are intake, exhaust & fluids. Those computer "chip" replacements sound good to, though I've never tried any.

I'd like a trailer carrying a Viper.

Re: what is the best preformance part ofr your buck

for hp,
1. K&N drop in air filter - $40, possible little more hp & mpg, biggest thing is it is reusable (great if you find yourself in dirt a lot
2. K&N intake - about $300 with claimed 5-10+ hp plus a little better milage
3. Flowmaster 40 series muffler - $140 installed, few more hp and about 1-2+ mpg (plus best sounding muffler for the FJC)
4. unichip w/pda power display - about $1100, on a 2004 stock tundra the unichip gained 16.4hp and 21.5 lb.ft. of torque @ 4000rpm. they carry it and have a lot of info HERE AT PERFORMANCEPRODUCTS.COM
5. URD supercharger - $5000 + install - said, but not prooven to take your FJC from 239hp all the way to between 340 and 380!!!!! HERE is their website where you can find all the info and even buy it.

hope that helps

Start to save your money. I have dropped over 8G's in my FJ and have a wish list of about 6 thousand more . next is toyota sliders and TRD supercharger

It gets stupid when you think about what we spend and do to our cars.

I have been there, done that, got several t-shirts to prove it and NEVER will do it again! I will now limit any mods I do to 15% of the purchase price of the car or truck. If that doesn't get it to where I want it, I probably bought the wrong vehicle.

I spent an insane amount of money on my WRX to make it a little rocket car. Then took the MB to Brabus and spent more money on mods for the MB than I did to original purchase my WRX. After a bit cars become a hole you just throw money into. Now I look for upgrades that I might be able to transition to another car later on to help justify them or at least sell some stock stuff to help fund the new add-ons.

At least with wheels and tires I didn't get killed to upgrade as I got decent money out of my old ones. That helped offset the cost of my new ones a bit. So at 5k out of pocket no more mods for the FJ. I can still squeeze in OME springs for the front, TRD supercharger kit (if I do the work), intake and exhaust and possible an upgraded stereo and then I am done. You almost never get any money back on the mods you do so unless I really want/need it, I don't do it anymore. I can't see putting to much money in a non-appreciating asset.
