Has the cold affected you clutch feel?

Im sure a bunch of you guys up north will have input on this. I get up and go to work the outside temp is 72 F. When i leave work the temp is in the 30's and right away i notice my clutch pedel feels sluggish. higher than normal resistance to depress the clutch and it seemd to have some hang time upon release. like it was gummy. It did affect my shifting some as it sort of messed up my normal flow. Anyone have a similar experience? It did get better after 15 mins or so.

Re: Has the cold affected you clutch feel?

mine stayed at the floor for a few seconds (15 F) but after driving about 5 min. It seemed normal. I'm going to try some spray silicon on the boot/shaft this weekend to see if it improves. That may be the easiest fix if it works.

I drive an a/t so I don't have clutch issues, but there's a knocking noise when it's wicked cold.

Re: Has the cold affected you clutch feel?

We just came out of a nasty cold snap -15F during the day and drop to -30F at night add the windchill and the temps hit -40F.

Clutch pedal does have the heavy/delay feel to it that you described. At those temps even the power steering was heacy till the FJ had a chance to warm up.

One morning (-25F) came out to the FJ to find some weisenheimer had unplugged the FJ. FJ was grumpy as he!! turning over but it did start.

Re: Has the cold affected you clutch feel?

Mine definitely feels sluggish when cold...but can't be nearly as bad as mikey from Alberta. We only had -11C as our low.

Re: Has the cold affected you clutch feel?

I haven't noticed any of the mentioned problems with my clutch in the cold weather and I live right up by Mikey.

Re: Has the cold affected you clutch feel?

Speaking from the perspective of an AT owner, I noticed that in extremly cold temperatures (close to -40F), the AT tranny is a bit sluggish as well. Power steering is tight as well, but things loosen up nicely when she is warm, (the FJ of course!)

But at close to -40F, I am also definately sluggish!
