Any way to Raise Towing capabilities???

Hey guys, I have a diamond black FJ cruiser fully loaded with a towing package. I mostly just tow my brothers adn mine jetskis, which will be no problem i am sure, but my dads boat weighs about 6000-6500lbs and i want ot just be able to put it in and pull it out once in a while. I live about 5-10min ride to the ramp and i was wondering if the FJ could handle it or if there is anything i could add to the fj to raise the towing capacity. Currently we have a Sequoia that tows the boat, but once in a while my dad takes it too work. We are a toyota family haha. Any thanks for your input guys.

Re: Any way to Raise Towing capabilities???

Towing capacity is more than just HP and TQ, it's has to do with wheelbase, axle loads and braking capacity, so depending on your tongue load you may be able to get away with that short of a tow.

Re: Any way to Raise Towing capabilities???

If speed isn't an issue then you probably can accomplish the tow. Things like upgraded brakes, tranny cooler, and an upgraded suspension would cure most of your concerns if you are on very local roads and don't have to pull out into heavy 60 mph traffic. Oh, and jet skis are for girls and small children.

Re: Any way to Raise Towing capabilities???

Don't forget to install a brake controller for the mandetory trailer brakes. You might look at the summary of laws located at State Towing Laws
Also, consider the potential damage to your frame and weight distribution setup.Merry Christmas
