TRD CAI noise....OMG

So I've had it for a few days. A great addition to the truck for sure. But I was wondering where all the discussion about the noise came from. I typically keep the RPMs under 3,500.

So I'm on the highway today and figure I'll floor it. OMG! I thought I had exploded the engine....I'm talking very, very loud. Fun, but scared the crap out of me for a second

Re: TRD CAI noise....OMG

hear hear! It's amazing how quite they can make intakes by adding tuned resonators, etc. as on the stock FJ intake. The intake on the my ford expedition has all sorts of lobes hanging off it.. it's 3x the size of the huge FJ stock intake.

Do you get any rattling vibration during WOT?

Re: TRD CAI noise....OMG

Oh....I'm pretty sure it was rattling. To be honest, it shocked me enough that I immediately let off the gas. I jumped from 3000 to around 5000 RPMs pretty quick. It was dark and raining....and I thought I had done something bad it was so loud.

Re: TRD CAI noise....OMG

I am so trying to wait until Christmas is paid off before I do this. My credit card is actually salivating and my hands are trembling as I attempt to hold off at least a couple of weeks.

Re: TRD CAI noise....OMG

I want to do this too. I might be able to deal with the noise. I'll have to get the TRD exhaust to drown it out.

Re: TRD CAI noise....OMG

It really doesn't make much additional noise except at WOT, and how often do you actually make it to WOT? I know I don't very often.

I've got the CAI plus a Magnaflow exhaust, so you should hear mine if you want to hear noise.
