Best synthetic oil filter??

Hey guys, my 2007 FJ just hit 100k miles and I am swapping to synthetic oil (Mobil 1 High Mileage). What is the best oil filter out there to compliment this? I plan to change oil every 5k... btw, w/ this oil can/should I wait longer between changes? Thanks

Re: Best synthetic oil filter??

I'm a firm believer in the Toyota filters for $5 or so a pop. I run M1 in my 07 with Toyota filter. I also change the filter and oil at about 6-7k. Not sure where the sweet spot is but want to be on the conservative side. The 10-13 FJs go 10k before a change according to Toyota but they have a different filter in a different location so not an even comparison.

I suggest buying the M1 at Walmart. It's $23/5 gallon jug!

x2 on my 07 @ every 5K miles. I buy the filters in a 10pk from Toyota at a discount. Don't forget to replace washers too.

Re: Best synthetic oil filter??

if you are looking for a long drain interval filter that has the ability to go the distance and has excellent filter media, then Amsoil!!! what else is there... lol...

otherwise, what others have suggested for off the shelf or OEM is fine...

I also use OEM bc of severe service/towing and shorter OCI`s. The Toyota OEM cartridge filters works just as good...

I am not even going there!

AMSOIL does make one for the 2007 as Palerider said.

As an aside, they don't make them for my 2010. Hopefully one day they will get tired of me harassing them about the cartridge filters. I use the TRD for mine.

Palerider, is it me or is Halloween having some crazy effect on people?

hahaha hey Nick, if people only knew exactly how many oil filter manufacturing companys there are...
a handfull of companies make all the filters,

gee do ya think Purolator and Motorcrafts look almost identical???

how about the insdies of AC delco, ST, and K&N, but you pay a lot more to have that 1" nut and the hole for safety wire on the DD that never sees the track! bwahahahahahaha

yeah, I guess it`s full moon too!

I have no idea where my files are on all the filters cut open and the media measured and compared... yeah a handfull of us did this years ago on our personal time and expense to bring enlightenment to one of our groups...
it was some crazy shyt brotha!

as long as people realize the limits to some of these filters, then they will be fine...

Re: Best synthetic oil filter??

I have been running both Mobile One oil and filters in the wife's 4Runner since new and have been happy with the performance. Still getting Toyota Care on the FJ so I am running OEM there.
