Recommend an exhaust system?

Hey all, I just put a K&N cold air intake into my FJ and I was wondering if anyone out there had any tech data or recommendations for an exhaust system. I looked at Borla, but they are very pricey! I was thinking about just going and putting the TRD exhaust on it, but I wanted to see if anyone knew better. Like Magnaflow, Borla, etc....

Re: Recommend an exhaust system?

Not sure if its a waste of money. But it is YOUR money so here is my .02 cents to assist in your decision. I have a Gibson Exhaust on my FJ. It sounds a tad bit louder than the TRD from what I hear. It is decently quiet in cab. It has a throaty sound to it. At WOT you can hear and feel it. I went with Gibson because of build quality and performance. Price for a new cat-back is between 280 - 350.00. I picked mine up used from a forum member with around 1K miles on it.

I have attached some pics so you can see what it looks like on an FJ.

Whatever combo you decide on, please let us know how it works out. I am planning on insatlling a CAI soon. Is that K&N Carb-Exempt?

Re: Recommend an exhaust system?

I just picked up a JBA off of ebay. Got the guy to deal on his auction Here's my thread on it. Hopefully he'll still make a deal. Shipped in arrived in two days.
http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/forum...-off-ebay.html

I haven't done the install yet.. Plan on it this weekend. I got a good review on an installed one from 07 FJ Boss who has one and like the set up.

I will post a full review after install. I have a sound meter and will do before and after measurments at idle, cruise ~2500 rpm and hard accelleration. I will get in and out of cab readings , at least during the idle and 2500 rpm. I'll post with the review.

The exhaust is full stainless, looks like a quality peice. Muffler is a strait through design. The finish isnt't polished, but I plan on do a little hand polishing prior to install.

Good luck,
~C

Re: Recommend an exhaust system?

Thanks for the input so far guys, it is appreciated. I'm not a mod junkie, I was just trying to creep a little extra power out of the engine and add a little throatier sound without having something on there that will look retarded.

I like the pics on FJC8871's, yours looks really good!

Re: Recommend an exhaust system?

Just went to a local muffler shop and had a Flowmaster put on and they redid the tail pipe like the All Pro one for $164.00.

yep i agree its a waste, if you do any real off roadin your gonna brake the tailpipe off anyway. I installed the AFE intake and the All-Pro high clearance tailpipe and called it a day..

what a differance!

thanks ALL-Pro

Re: Recommend an exhaust system?

I have the TRD and really like the sound. Not too riduclously loud, yet very ballsy sounding through the gears! I think it really depends on whether you have an AT or 6M. I have the 6M and it sounds great. Don't know if this helped you any - good luck in your quest!

Re: Recommend an exhaust system?

I just installed the All Pro muffler-back tail pipe & may have muffler shop swap in a Magnaflo muffler

Re: Recommend an exhaust system?

I put the Magnaflow on mine.

Sounds great, looks great, and the butt dyno was happy.

Love it!
