What would give me more Horsepower/torque?

TRD CAI or just a "drop in" style filter that will go in my stock air filter box?

Had a conversation with someone today and they say that a "drop in" style filter would get me 75% of the way there compared to the TRD CAI???

Would there be any differences?
Minor? Major?

Thanks, rp

I say very little difference with a drop in K&N filter. The TRD CAI on the other hand was a considerable difference, I am pleased with the CAI.

of your 2 choices go with the CAI, in general though a larger engine might help. hahah

Re: What would give me more Horsepower/torque?

Thanks for your response....

Just another quick ?

under 3500 RPM does the engine sound much different or louder?

the reason i ask is because this is our "family vehicle" and the wife wont like it super loud at "normal/slow speeds"

r

Re: What would give me more Horsepower/torque?

after the first day or 2 depending on how much you drive, the computer will remap and you won't even notice it untill above 3500 or gunning it to pass on a highway. The first day it is a little throaty though.

Re: What would give me more Horsepower/torque?

I plan on headers, rear cat delete, and eventually the TRD supercharger. I already have the TRD catback and K&N drop in air filter.

Re: What would give me more Horsepower/torque?

a drop in will do little, if anything. Waste of money imo if you are doing it for any sort of gains. Worth it though if you want a re-usable filter that is better then stock.
