Installing A Cold Air Intake on brand new rig: Good Or Bad

I searched around, but could not find any opinions or info about installing a CAI on a brand new FJ.
So, here is my question:
Should you wait to get some miles on the FJ before installing a CAI or just put it in and say screw it? I have heard different ideas on break in periods, some say if you baby it the computer will set to that driving pattern and it will be a dog. But, others say drive it like you stole it and it will run better and faster. So, I was thinking this would be prime time to insatll the CAI, but I am not sure. I just hit 100 miles on the fj today was thinking to wait until 1000 miles then throw the CAI in.
What do you guys think. any and all info is appreciated

When I posted this I did not even have it 2 days yet!!! It had 3 miles when I picked it up. I'm glad you put on your CAI for no good reason, but that makes no sense Why do something if you do not have a reason. I was looking for useful info from the knowledgeable members!!!!

I apologize then. I just took it out of context. I was cranky this morning, but I am better now. Sometimes it is hard to read what a person is saying.

Hey Dude, I bought a TRD CIA back in December but haven't had a chance to install it yet. From what I've read it's made by afe and it's a pretty good mod for the buck plus I like the way it sounds at full throttle. I have 9K on the clock now and hammer it all the time but I took it easy for the first 500 miles.

Dude, you need to check out the AT development thread... a pic there for you to review

Personally, I'd wait to the thousand mile mark to install a CAI. Atleast. I might say wait until 5000. Definitely do the oil at 1000 though...

In my opinion, a new engine is like a baby. It needs to be babied until it learns a little and gets a bit stronger. You don't chuck a new born in the air, you let the little guy build himself up some then you start having fun with him.

Thnaks for the info Joel. That is what I am going to do. Put some mile son her and then change it out. I think it is pretty loud anyway with the trd exaust and I have no complaints with the power. I will go look for that thread.
