Pre-Filter for TRD CAI

The fine sand here in the desert gets into everything so a cloth pre-filter should help.

Woundering if someone else has done this?

I got measurements off of TRD filter to try & find cloth pre-filter for it.

Re: Pre-Filter for TRD CAI

I can sell you an aFe Pre-filter. They are $30 plus $15 US shipped with tracking via UPS. I can't ship them cheaper unfortunately as aFe ships them directly to you.

aFe manufactures the TRD intake for Toyota so it will fit. Sold a few already.

Cheers

edit: Thought I'd bring pics to the party:

I'm surprised not more guys are asking about them... it is wet season here so there isn't much dust now, but in a month or so the logging roads are going to be clogging my filter left, right, and center. Washing the pre-filter is a lot easier and cheaper than cleaning your air filter. Mine should be here soon so I can get some installed pics.

Re: Pre-Filter for TRD CAI

Between Death Valley, the San Diego Desert and fire roads in the local mountains my TRD is choking on dust and this seems like a necessary investment. Just wondering if these negate the CAI by impeding the surface area needed for proper air flow, turning it into a conical cloth filter...? Any input after using these for a while?

Oh and as far as cleaning/oiling the CAI - that makes me nervous as heyell...skeered I'll get oil in there and destroy the MAF sensor or something...heyeeelp!

Re: Pre-Filter for TRD CAI

I have to say I'm still kind of a noob around here and I probably would not have thought to search for anything like this. New threads popping up once in a while are beneficial, even if they seem to be redundant to some of the older members. Please bare with us noobs as we learn from your trials and tribulations.

Re: Pre-Filter for TRD CAI

i got my K&N Drycharger in the mail yesterday... looks like a sock that goes over my rc-5064... i got the red one. it's a kind of nylon mesh like material that will minimize dust, dirt, mud and even water getting on the filter, and the best part, you can put it on or take it off in seconds!
