Just wondering if anyone has any experience with using Royal Purple oil. Did you notice any performance gain? What weight do you recomend? Whats the cost compared to regular oil?

I just switched to Royal Purple last week so far the motor runs smoother than the Castrol Full Sysnth I was running. just turned 10,000 miles and running great!
I put Royal Purpal in my FJ at the 3000 mile mark. I used to run Mobile 1 in my Ram 1500 and Jeep liberty. I found that the RP did a tad bit better in Milage and smothness in idle over M1. Because Synth oil does not break down as fast as non-synth oil, you do not need to change oil at the 3000-5000 points. I change every 10,000 miles and use 30w oil. I have a budy who ownes a repair shop and says changing Synth oil every 3000 miles is a complete waist of money. I also run my tire PSI at 38 to get improved MPG to. If the oil companys say you shoud chage oil every 3000 miles, why does toyota say every 5000 miles and my budy who is an engine tuner and repair shop says 10,000 miles then who is correct??? I think the oil companys just want you to spend more of your hard earned money with them. Like they already have us spend to much for gas, and now they want us to change oil every 3000 miles. Seems like a scam to me. We should stick-it-to-the-MAN and have everybody use Synth oil and change it every 13,000 to 15,000 miles. Just a thought. BTW it cost me $7.00 a Qt.

I love RP - I run it in my bike and used it exclusively in my last truck - I have found that it's expensive and that I can generally get a better deal on Mobil1 and that M1 is easier to find when I need it.
In my Dodge Ram with a Hemi I noticed a performance difference with RP vs M1 - but I think it was marginal. I had samples tested at various intervals at Blackstone Labs and RP held up extremely well.
our toyota sienna 04 mini van manual says change oil every 7500 miles and says nothing about synthetic, so i assume they are talking conventional. i can only imagine toyota wouldnt be dumb enough to put something like that in the manual if its going to expose them to risk, the dealer tells me 5000 miles, and of course grease monkey says 3000. so i change it about every 5000-6000 in the van, i have not switched to synth but have been considering it for a while now...
