Fj Cruiser Top Speed. 110?

Ok - I dont want to say this but I was out one LATE night here in California on Interstate 80 and was kind of playing touch and go with a Dodge RAM of some sort.

We were both hitting speeds of over 100. (I also have a TRD CAI - not that it might even matter) Each of us passing each other every few minutes back and forth.... It was a game of cat and mouse. I felt like I was 18 again! If was FUN!!!!!!

One point I will make is that I dont know what year Dodge or model it was but I can honestly say I had more acceleration than him at 90+.

I got the FJ to 110 and then backed it down - I got kind of scared of getting in trouble. I dont think this is like the good old days that if you went 100 you would just get a speeding ticket or if the cop was cool, just let you go. I think they can impound ME and MY CAR now.

Anyway, with that being said....

Can this FJ go faster than 110 or has anyone had it past 110?
Is there a limiter of some sort?

Any comments please would be welcome : )

Thanks, rp

Re: Fj Cruiser Top Speed. 110?

i've cruised 90-ish on the highway.

i think 110 is excessive for a truck.

they should have governed it at 94 like most GM's.

The Governor kicks in around 107 mph on stock FJ's.

I don't know what your FJ is equipped with, but with my 3" lift, I wouldn't dare take it over 90. I could care less where the governor stops me after that

It should probably be noted that I'm on probation for a speeding violation - 73mph in a 45mph zone. That, however, was in my dad's 07 BMW 550. I got sentenced to 80 hours community service, one year non-releaseable probation, and over $1000 in fines.

Needless to say, I'm pretty light on the gas now

That is so stupid to me to go buy a 4x4 and go over 100 mph, that is not what it's made for. If you nuckleheads want to drive that fast, maybe you should trade it in on something designed for that speed and quit making our highways danger zones because of dumb ass drivers who exceed what their vehicle was designed to do!

It's not worth the trouble to go that fast.

In a bad accident at that speed you end up like bloody sushi and the air bags don't do much to save you. I've seen my share of them and they aren't pretty. Accidents at 80 are bad enough and your survival usually hangs in the balance. If you want to street race with another knuckle head, the FJ is not the ride for you.

Flame me if you think I'm too conservative -

but if you hit somebody I care about when you're driving like that, best you don't survive the ordeal.

Re: Fj Cruiser Top Speed. 110?

uphill is right on the money. Any of you guys ever seen an accident at 80 mph + ?

1. You might be the one to kill someone? How are you going to live with that?

Usually the dumbass who causes the accident lives and kills an innocent person. Might not be your fault if you were going 110 mph ... some dumb person could pull out in front of you etc... people like to run out in the streets especially mexicans (hehe I'm half mexican so I thought that was funny)

It sucks pulling someout of the car through the window or something when they are all bloodied up.

I was behind a car that got hit by a tacoma one time. The tacoma was in a hurry doing 80 mph + in the opposite lane. It was raining , the dumbass was passing someone in a 2 lane that merged into a one lane. Needless to say the tacoma hydroplaned perfectly into the car in front of me. So I stopped , call 911 "talking to the 911 op" giving location details etc.. all at the same time I go help the car in front of me !. I'm in passenger seat making sure the person is ok .

Then a dumb ass by stander is like : "why are you on the phone?" Like trying to scourn me for talking on the phone because he knows first aid or some bull **** haha...(stupid civilians ... )

If i wasn't worried about the injured driver i would have totally whooped that guys ass! what a retard. Everyone else was just crowded around doing NOTHING! . EMT's were there within 5 minutes so everyone was good 2 go...

ehhh... accidents suck ! I'm sure all you guys were racing on a race track though !
