Re: Spec Aftermarket Clutch

Alright guys, the dealer has agreed to give me the new clutch under warranty and have it rebuilt to my liking...now all I have to do is find a shop north of the border (simpler) that is competent in the matter! I have found a TLCA member shop that has recommended a place in Montreal, Canada, that will warranty the clutch that will be installed by Toyota.
So what is better? A ceramic clutch or a full carbon semi metalic?
P.S. By the way, the pusher plate number has changed - they have modified it...maybe that will help!?!

Re: Spec Aftermarket Clutch

Spec doesn't need to be talked up by me, they have a solid reputation. But still, I thought I would add:

http://http://www.gtepowered.com/ind...ns/profile.php

This is my buddies 815HP Supra. That's 815 AT THE WHEELS, by the way. For now.

I've made many parts for him, some of them appearing in some of the magazines you can see shots of down the side.

Long story short, at 815RWHP, the only thing he can run that can hold up to his engine is a SPEC clutch.

Re: Spec Aftermarket Clutch

very nice. I've been wondering when someone would put out a performance clutch for us. I smell my clutch burning all the time when I'm getting unstuck from snow, mud, or sand. No slipping, but it really stinks. This is on the list when the factory burns out. How much is the total cost? I'm guessing not cheap at all.

Re: Spec Aftermarket Clutch

I burned my clutch a little once getting out of some sand. It didn't even seem to slip, but I saw a whiff of smoke and thought "oh boy here we go!"

Re: Spec Aftermarket Clutch

Bought the Spec Clutch Stage 3+, have the new throwout bearing and TRIED to find a new pilot bearing for the flywheel so that could be changed out for good measure HOWEVER no Toyota Tech or dealer shows the pilot bearing available seperate for the flywheel. I have a 2007 MT 6spd (30,000 miles) and want to get this clutch installed however cant seem to get that one bearing. is it that necessary??

I guess I will go ahead and install the Spec with the new throwout bearing and not worry about the bearing in the flywheel (it is called the pilot bearing right????). I called Spec and honestly, to my surprise, the guy was a lump on the other end of the phone - didnt know jack sh&t. Anyway, if anyone has thoughts please let me know - thanks.

Anxious

Re: Spec Aftermarket Clutch

hmmm... didn't even know they had a Spec clutch for the FJ. subscribing for future reference. When I need a new clutch, this is the way I'm going. Spec is awesome.

I always seem to get the lump on a log when I need help too. Hopefully someone here can chime in and answer your question.

Re: Spec Aftermarket Clutch

I know that having a sport clutch for M/T is really good but was wondering if this clutch would have any good benefit for A/T?
