What to cover under the hood when spraying down with water?

Yesterday in the midst of installing my OME lift I cracked my hood for the first time since 2 offroading trips and it was a scary sight of mud. Looks like i'm going to have to spray off the engine bay but i'm wondering what I should throw a plastic bag over first to prevent from getting wet.

I pressure wash the engine everytime I wash it (yes, I wash it) and never had a problem. I don't cover anything either. I just stay clear of the grommets on the fire wall.

Engine off and spray away. I don't cover anything. No problems yet.

Re: What to cover under the hood when spraying down with water?

Cold water on hot engine! NOT A GOOD COMBINATION!!!!!

Let the engine cool some before getting it wet.
And if you've been in some mud or muddy water, make sure to clean the radiator as well...

Mud will also get in the hand break system, if your hand brake doesn't feel right...pull the rear break disk and pressure wash the assembly.
Just my $0.02
