Engine performance mods, why?

When you purchase aftermarket engine performance parts, what do you care about improving the most?

Re: Engine performance mods, why?

These early results are a sign of the times. Three to four years ago it would have all been all about HP, ft-lbs and a throaty exhaust note.

Re: Engine performance mods, why?

I would say it is more of a combination of things. If it gives me more power and torque and a small mpg cost then why not, otherwise it would not be worth it to me.

Re: Engine performance mods, why?

i would like more low end torque. it would really help with the boat behind the FJ. air bags too. man this thread makes me want a supercharger.

Re: Engine performance mods, why?

back in the day it was all about getting off the line fast and good handling in the corners(autocross)!!! now...one of the reasons why we bought a Toyota, because I want something reliable that I dont have to work on...
But if I ever do I would probably do it for towing reasons, more low end torque!
