TRD Supercharger

I have read a couple of things lately that say we will be waiting a LONG time for a TRD supercharger so I have been doing some digging to see what I can find. Well, I found this:

CustomTacos.com | News | Toyota Provides Details of 1GR Supercharger

Lots of good details and they have pictures of the Supercharger on a test tacoma as well so it does exist. I am dissapointed in the price though, I was hoping they would keep it in the 3k range.

Re: TRD Supercharger

good find...yeah, I think thats about a grand more than previous kits. 5-hour job, so install cost shouldn't be crazy. Be a good upgrade when I pay this puppy off.

"There will be TWO application kits: One for Tacoma trucks and one for FJ Cruiser SUVs. There will not be separate units based on transmission."

Re: TRD Supercharger

Well, at least it's good to hear there will be an option for those of us with an automatic transmission. If the $4K price included installation, then it'd be a decent deal, but I guess it's nice to dream .

Re: TRD Supercharger

I've never run anything but high octane..

originally we were told thats all we could run..and I stuck with it.

oh..and so they've admitted its true..and that they have it. But let's remember...it took them forever to admit there was really an Air-Dam...and we had pictures of the FJ with it as the header on the site. So it will probably be many more moons before they let it out.

Re: TRD Supercharger

A little bird told me that the price is high partly because the warranty is an aftermarket warranty.

Also the HP gain is about half what this is:
URD 1GR Supercharger

Re: TRD Supercharger

have you ever ran it in the 1/4? On all the videos it looks like that thing will really get on it.

Re: TRD Supercharger

That's cool and the price is not that bad depending on if it has an intercooler or not. I have an M90 Eaton unit on my 06 Mustang with nothing else it about 430 to the Crank and 380 to the back wheels. The question I have
is, will the TRD CAI work on it with the S/C and if so will it Come with one in the kit? And if it comes with an aftermarket warranty anyone with Headers may void there warranty.

Only bummer on the URD (besides price & factory engine warranty loss) is the smog guy thats going to tell me they cant pass my truck in another 3 years when we have to start smogging them after the 4 year exemption for new cars here in CA.
