I believe that FJ's have a non-servicable fuel filter.

I searched but didn't see anything right off about where the fuel filter is located, what the part number is, and if its hard to change?
Does anyone have any input?
Thanks
Do you feel you need to change it? Most vehicles today have non servicable fuel filters in the tank wiht the pump assembly. My last vehicle had one of these and provided over 160K miles of service for 11 years with no issues. Run it!
To answer your question, It requires removal of the fuel tank, removal and disassembly of the fuel pump/filter/sender assembly. It is doubtful that the filter is available as a seperate unit so cost will be steep.
No, I don't feel the need to change it. I just know that changing the fuel filter at certain maintenance intervals has been routine with past cars that i've owned. I assumed as much with the FJ.

I believe that you are correct, you have to buy the fuel pump assembly.

Do ya think it would be a good idea to put a big, quality in-line filter somewhere?
Kind of surprising a vehicle designed for off-roading and harsh conditions doesn't have a replaceable fuel filter...or an AT fluid dip stick.
The in-tank filters are kind of a last resort particulate filter...
This is my forst Toyota & I realize the FJ is more a utilitarian vehicle, but from the previous Hondas & Subaru's I've owned (all bought new) those manufacturers alway's seemed to think of "the "little things"...is this "par for Toyota's course"??
