Another snorkel installed...

...but this one in Puerto Rico.

I picked it up last friday from the store.

Thanks to Dragon who was my advisor all the way. Everything was very easy but only one part that made me mad: The PITA fender liner; I took off like 127 clips and bolts from it and when I thought I finished removing everything, there were clips behind the bolts.

I could work without removing everything off. Thats the fender liner and the fender trim together.

I'm gonna keep that as a souvenir or use it as a bling bling to match my FJ.... What do you think?

Those holes were the easiest part of all the procedure. Obviously the template has to be perfect aligned.

Some touch up paint to cover the bare metal edges to prevent rust.

Applying blue loctite. Went to Home Depot and no one knew what was that...shame on them. Went to Pep Boys and there they were in different colors.

I removed the TRD CAI and you can see the Snorkel rubber tube.

I took the idea from Dragon by applying black silicone caulk to the gap between the rubber tube and the TRD CAI hole. I also used foam weather strip to pre-tight the area prior to apply the silicone.

Taaa-Daaa !!!!! And here is my snorkel. Now lets see how people react on the streets. Hahahahah !!!

Inside the cabin you don't see the snorkel so it wont be a problem for view blocking. This is one of the best things that came for the FJ, with less of 2 years on the market.

Once again, Thanks to Dragon for all the help he gave me.

Re: Another snorkel installed...

Nice write up and detailed pictures. Is there a big need for something like this in PR? Or is it more for looks?

Well, Is a perfect use in floods; here rains a lot and no matter how much rains there's always a huge flood somewhere on the roads. Also, I happen to go offroading with some friends of mine, so this will help me to avoid heavy dust and water from rivers crossing. we dont have those "off road open places" to go but we also have fun in our places. Also for better air intake temperature.

Re: Another snorkel installed...

Thank you all of you for the comments. In the begining I was kind of afraid to do the holes that later won't match with the bolts, but when i noticed they were big enough for error-margin I started making the big one first to "end the wail" with the 4¼" (108mm)hole saw, the continued the other holes with the step drill using masking tape to mark where was the measures to use (5/8) for the eight holes and (5/16) for the three upper screws. Everything was a perfect fit.

Not at all. I just told you about my blunders

I'm glad you were able to do it yourself. It looks professionally done.
