Re: Trueflow CAI any good?

Looks like it's not a CAI like the stock unit. Looks like it grabs hot, under hood air, unless there's some sort of ducting coming off it that you can't see in the photo.

From what I can tell it's simular to the injen

I think someone on here installed the injen, and it didn't fit right. something like a tuner car would run.

I found a link http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/forum...ts-07-fjs.html

Re: Trueflow CAI any good?

That's one huge filter which I would think is a good thing but I don't like any setup that gets it's air from inside the engine compartment. I'm happy with the TRD CIA.

Re: Trueflow CAI any good?

I just installed one so I will have to let you know...so far I like it and the sound is awesome! I also will have to get a temperature reading to see how much hotter it may be in the back of the engine. I did notice a power gain though even though I figured I would not, and I also may be getting better mpg. I only have 90 miles on it so I don't know yet but it is looking promissing.

Re: Trueflow CAI any good?

Cool! I'm curious on a couple things, MPG, and any idea how often you need to change the filter? If I remember right their like $75 Oh, and how was the install, did it bolt down on the side/wheel well area?

Re: Trueflow CAI any good?

to be honest the trd "CAI" and others are sourcing the air in the same spot as the OEM box so really is not cold air, but just better flow which is good but to be true cold air it would have to be like a snorkel getting air from the outside or as in some of the other cars i've had to get it underneath the engine or like the C5 and C6 'vettes in front of the raidator

Let me say I'm not bashing the TRD (i think its a great product) just want people to understand the trueflow and other "CAI" are really only improving the flow of the system and not so much of a cold air intake

Re: Trueflow CAI any good?

I actually am running a true flow XD-I intake. I do believe it gives better flow. My truck doesnt downshift quite as much as with stock. Its hard to tell unless its dyno'd
