AFE CAI Plugs question

Jusy wondering...what is the function/advantage of the AFE plug? Do I assume correctly that it makes the unit pull air from the outside with none from the engine compartment. And, sorry, this may be a dumb question, but couldn't you just put a piece of duct tape over the port and get the same results??

Duct tape might get sucked in. The intake in the wheel well keeps water from coming in to a certain limit. The plug is quieter to.

Re: AFE CAI Plugs question

I'd like to know where to get one of the plugs...searching the forums didn't produce much useful info...do I need to order from AFE or is there a forum vendor who has these - I'd rather order from a forum vendor than go elsewhere...

thanks

PM FJoel on here. He'll point you to Oscar who is the aFe rep on here. I just picked one up along with a filter sock and throttle body spacer from them.

Exactly how much quieter is it? I love how loud it is currently & I don't want to reduce the sound dramatically.

Its still louder than the stock one when you are on high revs. Ive got an auto an dont hit over 3000 often so its quiet. You have the option of taking it of when not on the trails it longer to lift the hood than doing the installation.
Hope it help

Re: AFE CAI Plugs question

I ordered my aFe CAI from Stripper Motorsports and a red 'plug' came with it. I didn't realize that some kits didn't include it. I have mine unplugged anyway. I like the rumble......

Here you go. This one is black, but they may have read the stars and seen I owned a brick red, because I got a red one
