Recently I saw a show on discovery called 'Future Cars', and they said that you could convert to E85 for as little as 100 bucks plus some labor charges. Well I did some research online and they you CAN change over to Ethanol for V6 Toyotas. I am looking further into this and will contact the company to see if it really does work for the FJ.
So I thought I would do some research into conversion kits for all vehicles. They are out there and they are under $500 for the Toyota V6 2001 - 2008s or something like that. Here's the address for the site:

This device is not just for ethonal but is a flex fuel device which means you can use gasoline still incase there are no stations near when you need fuel.
The problem...
Now the biggest problem is the fact that for me, in the Phoenix area, I live in the suburb of Chandler which is about 20 miles SE of Downtown PHX where the one AND ONLY E85 station is.
If you have quite a few stations around, this might be something to look into.

A bit on global warming (from a climate guy)....
Now, I just graduated with a bachelor of science in meteorology and climatology. I studied climate almost as heavily as the meteorology part and can tell you for a fact that our planet is warming, some of the warming is natural and I would lean towards the fact that it is more natural than human induced. It is true we are affecting it some, I hate people who blame so many problems in the world on global warming. Climate change happens without human intervention and weather phenomenon is very hard to link to global warming. The population has increased and the medium at which news is delivered today is widespread and fast flowing. This being said, it is hard to say that climate change is affecting the weather pattern. More weather being reported does not mean that there is more weather happening. Since there are more people around, it could just mean that those people affect by a storm happen to be there when a while ago there was nothing but sheep living in that area. My point is the debate on how much humans are affecting the climate is still continuing and hard to prove either way. There is much more to it than that, but this is just a short concise way to sum up the difficulty of what we should do about our polluting not knowing exactly what the results will be with our planet.
I know one thing for sure, oil is not infinite. I care more about what money I can save then how much I pollute, I do care about the enviroment but I understand how the economy works.
My point being is this is a good thing for everyone, a win win situation except for the mexicans paying more for corn tortillas in Mexico, but thats not the fualt of E85 being produced from corn but rather the fualt of no regulation in the company selling corn tortillas and flour tortillas that blame it on more corn being used for Ethanol.
It would be nice to see more stations all around period. The price of E85 is on average of 15% cheaper than gasoline and ais as little as $2.30 in some places. Not only that but you would see improved fuel economy of 3-6 miles per gallon due to the fact that it is the equivallent of using octane 110 racing fuel. The fact is that we would save money and keep the enviroment a little cleaner if we start switching over to Alternative fuels...
Don't have E85? Then let them know!!!
If you are interested in E85 and your city does not have it, then I would recommend going
here and sending out these 3 lines and sending it to tell them you would like one!
Maybe we could get a sticky on this? And get a some more support for stations?!!
