If it does, it's negligible. What do you care, it's a utility vehicle, not a Porsche. Are you taking it to the racetrack?

Re: cyclone pre filter add horsepower??

If you're talking about the '08-issue Toyota pre-cleaner, I would say no.

However, it should keep your air filter cleaner, longer...

Re: cyclone pre filter add horsepower??

My guess is it would actually have a minor decrease in horsepower w/ a clean filter due to the added restriction in the ducting. No benefit will be seen due to swirling as the swirling stops once it gets to the filter.

However, a normal filter would get dirty over time which results in a slight decrease in horsepower, this device would slow that process so it is possible that a fj w/ 10,000 miles on the original filter would have less horsepower then a fj w/ the prefilter as the filter itself is likely to be cleaner.

Confused?

Re: cyclone pre filter add horsepower??

Cyclones do not work. There is no way that the air will cntinue to swirl after is has been passed through an air filter, the giant intake plenum, and then compressed. Even if it were still swirling what is this going to acomplish? the fuel deosn't mix until after it is already in the cylinder. BTW throttle body spacers dont work either. for the same reason.

Re: cyclone pre filter add horsepower??

the supercharger adds power.

that's about it.

and the cyclone doesn't replace a snorkel with a pre-cleaner for dusty trail bashing. it's just a gimmick.
