I've had similar problems albeit with a different product...All-Pro's rear FJ bumper. All-Pro says they'll discount it but the ball is now in my court and I've decided to repaint it myself and save the headache. "xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx . . . . . . . . . "

I am not truely understanding the issue here.
If I am going to be paying for a product and has a coating. If that coating process was not done correctly why would it NOT be covered?

Isn't the whole point of paying for a coating service is to prevent rust (in this case the coating is for thermal barrier also).

From the pics I saw of the defected product, there didn't seem to be a good complete coating and/or bonding of the coating, or lack of quality control of the finish product.
AGAIN I didn't see or handle the actual product just from the pics posted.
I personally would expect some sort of exchange/refund. If the coating is not going to be done to completely cover the item. This should be state as so.

From my understanding the whole reason for getting a coating is to.
Any part subject to heat damage, corrosion, friction or loss of lubricating film can benefit from hi performance coatings. In addition, enhanced appearance is possible for parts such as exhaust thermal coating headers, brackets and suspension pieces.
Coating will increases parts life from two (2) to ten (10) times the normal part life can be obtained. Coatings such as "THERMAL BARRIER COAT" (exhaust header coating) can provide virtual lifetime protection against rust when applied to a new part.
personally i dont think i have ever seeing a header that wont rust...for the record i own jba's small header in my x runner which is the same for the fj and they rusted too...i also remeber my celica gts header made by trd, they costed 1100.00 usd and they rusted too...dunno...

i dont think its an issue the header should perform as it should for the life of the vehicle and then some....i wonder if some sort of powder coating could withsatnd the heat....i really dont notice it to much on the x dont know how it is on the fj...
my 2 cents...

by the way the jba's quality is horrible......i had to work on mine before i installed them...

The quality on my JBA headers has been outstanding. You are the first I've seen complain about JBA.

Re: my Doug Thorley long tubes are rusting away :(

With the responses from the vendor, I can now say that nothing DT will be on my trucks or cars, ever.
He tells the customer to send them in for a credit, and disputes the credit? And thats AFTER making the customer cover the full price of the second set? Sounds like it was planed not to refund your money (with out a fight).
The only good thing that came out of all this, is that we now know who not to deal with. If this site could run for free (it does take money to keep it up), I would kick them out of the Vendors List.

DT, you should tell Racer001, that you are sorry for his problems. After what you put him through, you should also pay him for the coating that he had to have added to your pipes. You should also do all of this here, in public, so maybe some of us might give you a second chance (I wont, but some might).
Thats my $.02...

Say Racer001, what would be the price that the good coat job runs? Never had to have pipes re coated yet...

It cost me an additional $275 to have the new headers stripped to bare metal, prepped, and recoated properly on the outside AND inside...the way they SHOULD be.
