It's time to do it! But I don't want to get raped! And I want it done correctly. Two local dealers have quoted
Ft Myers Toyota..... (7.5 hours labor).
4500.00 total parts + 675.00 total labor = $5175 plus tax $5485.50
Germain Toyota ( in NAPLES) Where I bought the FJ from and take it in for all of it's services.
$4500 total parts, 1250.00 total labor = $5750 plus tax$6095.00
Neither dealer has installed one yet! From what the persons on the phone said. Also stated that the new HP = 305
Any thoughts?
What did you pay?
Doesen't Toyota have the same labor hours for all of it's dealers to install?
Check with the Texicans! Lots has been posted about toyota places in and around (generally speaking) Dallas.. Ron

The 675 dollar labor cost is very reasonable. the install on mine took them 15 hours. It will take an experienced dealer more like 8-10 hours realistically to do it. Make sure you pay a flat rate, or pay up front for the labor it will save you negotiating headaches when you go to pick it up. As far as the parts go, the 4500 dollar price tag is dealer retail. I think you should be able to purchase it through them for closer to 4,100. Anyways good luck, the supercharger is a nice piece.
Personally I wouldn't let the dealer do the install. Especially if they have never done one. I'm sure there are plenty of great mechanics who work at dealers, but my experience with them has taught me to be very careful of who I let work on my rig. If I were you, I would take it to a reputable auto performance shop. You may pay more for the installation, but IMO it is well worth it to have the job done right the first time. I literally had to have every single thing the dealer did redone by a competant shop or I had to do it myself. I'd hate to read about all the problems you are having with the SC because of shoddy work on the part of the dealer. Like I said, I'm sure plenty of people have had work done at a dealer and they are happy. I'm telling you though, you don't want to be one of the unhappy ones. Especially with something as major as installing a supercharger. Good luck with whatever you decide and enjoy all that power!

I would only pay the labor stated on TRD for the install, which is 6 hours, so that $675 is a pretty good estimate for that. Just don't let them say "if it takes more time we'll have to charge you more" bs. Also, if the dealer doesn't want to come down on the price, you can get the parts shipped to you for about $3800 from a vendor on here. I was going the supercharger route first but got a lift, wheels, tires, and bumpers first. Keep us posted .
I bought mine from Tacozilla for $3768.00. He shipped it out the same day.(Great service from one of our vendors) I installed it myself in 8.5 hours. It is really easy if you take the time to read the instructions and follow the steps. I took it to my local Toyota dealership and paid them $100.00 to do reflash on the ECU. Seriously, if you have basic tools a torque wrench and can read, you can do it yourself.
The warranty? If something goes wrong with it they have to prove it was from something I did wrong on the install. It runs perfectly and am sure if I have any troubles they won't give me grief. I am fortunate to have a Toyota store close that actually cares about customer service.
Total cost with shipping and reflash: $3948.00

I absolutely agree.
I lived in Fort Myers for 6 years. I would NOT give any of my cars to Toyota of Fort Myers (personal experience). I wouldn't give it to Naples either, seeing as they've never done one. They probably have much better techs down there, but it's still a big problem if they fork your car up.
Simply stated: either pick another pro shop, or DIY.
Sparks Toyota delivered to my doorstep was 3784.45
Tustin Toyota 600 dollars
The price of dropping it off and picking up the next day with my factory warranty intact...Priceless.
Nothing against you guys who think that you can do it and if something goes wrong stand behind the MOSS act, I am an attorney by training, as they tell you no and make us do it...how many of you have 3500 for a retainer and 6-18 months to litigate it?
Take it to your dealer, it was only the 2nd install for them and the 1st on a FJ...they took their time and read the instructions.
Enjoy it.

I've confirmed with the service writter that the labor charge is for the whole job, it can not go up I asked, and she agreed. I'd get it in writting if and when I go in. I don't mind spending the cash as long as they know what their doing! I don't want to be on a trip hauling a trailer somewhere in the mountains 15 hours away from home and have a problem because they were learning on my FJ.
Somewhere on this forum I posted the actual Toyota figures, wholesale, retail and list, a while ago. The parts guy at Ft Myers Toyota showed me the screen while he looked them up a few months ago, and all the prices popped right up, I guess he didn't figure they would pop up like that. I gotta search the posts to see what they were. My memory sucks! Something like Wholesale-3700, retail-4000, list-4500 +/-
I mentioned to the Naples guy about the lower price I had gotten from the other dealer and he said he would look into matching if they could. That was 5 hours ago! Haven't heard back yet.
Found it!!!!!October 2007
I was at my dealer yesterday, 10-12-07, and the parts were listed in their computer for the supercharger but no availability. Part # for the SC is "PTR 29-35070" Retail cost was $3500, wholesale was $3100, list was $3800.00.
You also need a "fit kit" pt # is "PTR29-35071" retails for $360.
I saw these #'s on their comuter screen. Installation is extra........
