Re: Can't get more than around 200 miles per tank

that sounds really low to me...my FJ was stock other than BFG's (factory size) factory roof rack, 4wd and it was a 5sp auto......the most I ever saw out of a tank was 272 miles......I do't quite remember my driving habbits for that particular tank but.....most of my driving was around town.....now and then some hwy.......but I averaged closer to 260 miles a tank.....which bothered me!

I am always 300+ miles I run 93 octane, installed a factory replacement K&N Air Filter, and I did my first Oil Changed and switched over to Royal Purple 5w30 Synthetic oil with K&N Gold Oil filter.
I did my oil change at about 4800 miles and put the air filter in at the same time. Just those small changes helped me alot.
The Royal Purple Synthetic oil is great stuff I would never use anything else.
My father uses it in his Hot Rods and loves it also.

OK, I've made a few alterations to the body, smoothed the front and, I think I've marginally improved the aerodynamics, if this doesn't get me 1mpg I don't know what will:

I wish I got that. around 180 for me. Filled up every day so far this weekend. Trips to Burbank, San Juan Capistrano for some offroading, and then more burbank and glendale fun. Filled up 3 times this weekend. My pocket hurts.

Owwhhcch, I drive 100 miles to work and back everyday! So I fill up a minimun of three times a wk. It seems no matter what I do I still average the same. So screw it!! Drive it like you stole it!

Re: Can't get more than around 200 miles per tank

Just got my FJ which has stock 17" wheels, TRD CAI, TRD Cat-back Exhaust, and roof rack. About how much of a hit on my MPG can I expect to take from the 2" OME suspension kit?

Re: Can't get more than around 200 miles per tank

OK I'll chime in...20 to 24 mpg before any mods w/o a roof rack, avarage to aggresive driving...

20" rims with BFG tires, 3" lift All Pro Lift bumpers and rails, Gobi low pro roof rack with lights, TRD CAI...brought it to 18 to 20 mpg, 210 to 220 miles before
gas light comes on...

Then the big INSTALL;

when I'm nice and flow with traffic I get 17 to 19 mpg (also when towing my 2 jet skiis)...
when I'm nasty and my right foot gets on the heavy side (or when I wanna off road on three wheels) my worst is 10 mpg to an avarage of 15 mpg...
I'm happy with the realization of the FJ as my TOY and it really dosen't matter anymore what I get...what does matter is...HOW MUCH FUN I'm having
while get'n what I'm get'n!

Like others have said...if I want more MPG...I'll get a Prius or other kind of Hybrid...good luck 'n have fun!
