Can't get more than around 200 miles per tank

got roof lights and 33" Cooper STTs which obviously isn't helping but I've fitted a TRD CAI and haven't even added the lift yet. even with a really light foot I managed to squeeze 215 miles before the light came on, i probably average 180 with mixed town/highway though (lowest was 155 miles with board/skis on top). Now, if this is 'normal' then I'm ok with it, however, I see some people getting 300 miles per tank- I've got no hope. am taking it to the dealer in a couple of weeks but they're not sure they can hook up their diagnostics as it's an import. any thoughts? (yes... the handbrake's off ) I should add - using 95 octane.

Well, 300 miles is about right for me with NO MODS and stock tires. More economy can be had via a Prius or Hyundai.

Thats about right at lest for me. I am lucky if I get 180 before the light turns on. But I am a MT lifted larger tires and all pro air dam with 2 lights on rood rack. Also almost all city driving.

Re: Can't get more than around 200 miles per tank

same here with heavy traffic lately with lots of stop and go......33" tires, 3" lift. Hoping after I get a few thousand miles and do an oil change it will improve slightly....also going to put a better breathing air filter in her...and a better muffler. between those two and full synthetic fluids I am hoping to get a couple miles per gallon back. Plus going offroad sucks the gas down pretty quick too...LOL

What's your tire pressure? Clean air filter? Window up or down? AC? You're on the low side of mileage.

Re: Can't get more than around 200 miles per tank

I get anywhere from 240 to 320 per tank (depending on city/hwy/or).
Budbuilt skids (full), rock rails, rack (everything else stock).

Re: Can't get more than around 200 miles per tank

285/70/17 BFG AT's on the stock alloys with roof rack and stock suspension and I get 300 - 320 miles on a tank.

When I was running my 285/50/20's I would get 320-350 depending on all highway or not. I get 20-21 mpg every tank. That is with 60% highway.
I have a light foot and run 65 mph or less, never more.

I also run 93 octane.

Re: Can't get more than around 200 miles per tank

Under 70 mph the mileage increases considerably. Buy a ScanGuage 2 and track your actual mileage accurately (among other things). It helps to know what different driving styles do to fuel consumption. Heavily modified, I manage to average 17 mpg highway, which means that the fuel light comes on at about 250 miles (with 4 gallons to spare before it's bone dry). So if I ran it dry - and I don't, I'd be getting about 325 miles per tank.
