slow startup??

i just got my new 2008 black 4x4 fj last week. it is great!! i had a question though. when i try to start it up, it takes a bit to turn over. i had a new chevy silverado 1500 before this, and it would start up right when i turned the key. it normal for the FJ to take a sec to turn over? im just trying to figure out if this is normal, since this is my first toyota. thanks!

Re: slow startup??

It's normal to have to spin it over a bit.

Re: slow startup??

Before I changed the plugs in mine last fall, it consistently needed 5-6 cranks before running. Now it consistently fires after 2-3 cranks

I used to have a 2000 GMC Sierra. Usually, just flick the key and it was running. Until I had deposits build up on the IAC and TB, then it would fire and stall. Dealer was clueless, so I bought the factory shop manual. Had it fixed myself in an hour

Re: slow startup??

I normally drive my Ford PU that starts immediately. Then when I drive the FJ I turn the key and let it go and and then realize that it didn't start and go "oh yea, the FJ, hold the key down a little longer". It's normal from what others have said here. Congratulations on your new ride.
