Re: TRD Supercharger??

If the dealer installs the supercharger it comes with the standard factory warranty. No it will not blow up. It's not adding huge amounts of power. From what I have seen, it's so much fun to drive mpg numbers have gone down (larger injectors are installed as part of the kit). There are many TRD Supercharger threads. I will try to find the info for you.

Edit : Found it. HP 304@5400 rpm / Torque 334 ft-lbs@3600 rpm

Re: TRD Supercharger??

for the TRD Supercharger. It is really one great kit. It performs well and should be close to as reliable as stock. The mileage for me increased from 19 mpg on the freeway to 21 mpg, but city driving took a small hit (I can't keep my foot out of it.) I would say that with mixed driving I see about a 2 mpg reduction. If you're serious about it I would say do it. This thing is a blast to drive on a daily basis. Not to mention the funny looks you get from others when they hear this thing whine a bit.

Re: TRD Supercharger??

It is a good increase in low end throttle responce and I really like how well the trans works with the extra power at part throttle when passing and lane changes, very smooth. Gas mileage 1st tank pretty bad at 15 mpg next tank 17.5 mpg best tank pre super charger was 18 mpg, all tanks combo city and hwy. driving.

Re: TRD Supercharger??

What impact, if any, will it have on engine life? I know it is a pretty conservative SC, but won't it still decrease the life of the engine? I'm not talking about catastrophic failure, but long term wear from the increased pressure, temps, and power.

I don't think Toyota would stand behind it with a warranty if it wasn't reliable. I've read here that the S/C itself will need service at about the 60K mark with bearing replacement. If gas mileage is a concern then I wouldn't get it because I don't know about you but if I had it... my right foot would always be in it.

I tend to agree, especially if you drive it hard with a lot of full throttle taking it to the red line shifts. If you have the auto trans I'd look into a external trans cooler even though the trans comes with synthetic in it.
