Re: Will Supercharger effect off-road performance?
funny guy...funny guy. Seriously, though. will there be too much juice under the hood to provide nice, smooth off road performance? I don't want to tear anything up, and I certainly don't want too much power to effect control when off road. I value that ability of the FJ more than street speed.
Re: Will Supercharger effect off-road performance?
Yes.. Enough horsepower will destroy anything. Most vehicles don't have enough unused strength. It's cheaper to build things just strong enough to get by. That being said, if I had the cash I'd buy one! Ron

IMO, Toyota would have never released the TRD S/C for the FJC if it was going to tear up parts. Just don't floor it trying to get over that rock...

Re: Will Supercharger effect off-road performance?
The FJ Tranny is from a Tundra, I think it has enough strength to take the abuse of a supercharger put on a 6cyl engine as opposed to a 8cly in a full size truck pulling a heavy load. The FJ is a bit overdone on the tranny side, which is a good thing. I would not worry about it.

Re: Will Supercharger effect off-road performance?
My guess is the tranny will be fine but you will likely blow a ring gear in your diff or snap a cv joint. these things are happening already on some rigs without the SC. If you are gonna offroad there is no need for an SC, you need a crawlbox like Marlin or inchworm. you need slower more creepin gears, not faster, unless you plan on doing the BAJA.

Re: Will Supercharger effect off-road performance?
I think it depends on what you mean by off road. If you mean bombing down relatively smooth two tracks or desert trails at high speed, then you'll have a blast with the extra power from a SC.
If you want to do more technical, low speed, crawling/rock applications, the get the inchworm or similar setup.
