30k Milage check up $530???

Just called my Toyota dealer and they said a 30k check up would be $530

includes balance rotate, cabin filter, oil change, something with the spark plugs.. does this seem a little high?

This is exactly why I do all my own work on my vehicles.

If you can, change the plugs, clean your airfilters, and change your fluids. Save yourself a bunch of cash. I plan on doing the 30k myself. Search for changing plugs and other stuff on this site.

yeah, do it yourself. Even if it takes a couple hours to figure it all out and do it your still saving a TON of cash.

Re: 30k Milage check up $530???

seems very high. Not everyone has the time or the knowledge to do all this work.
I just look on the service manual thingy in my glove box as a shopping list. Then do it all myself as well. Looking forward to the 15K mile service

Re: 30k Milage check up $530???

Actually that is about right figuring that the 4 hours labor is the big chunk of that cost.

I'm a do-it-yourself kind of guy too but I did buy the prepaid maintenance package on my FJ because I believe there is a warranty issue in getting the 15k & 30k services done. If I'm not mistaken they have to be done by a "certified Toyota technician" to maintain the warranty.

Anybody got any better information on the warranty/service requirements?

Re: 30k Milage check up $530???

I had my 30K checkup done at the dealer and it was $380.

I am memphis, maybe the labor is a little cheaper?

Hope this helps,

Not true, you just have to document the work. Keep receipts for parts, take pics and document here. I'm gonna start documenting everything I do on the forum.

Tell your service writer he needs to have his head examined... with a ball peen hammer! Do it yourself, keep receipts, document what you did, save lots of money.
