Re: Leak, and overheating.. Help??

I have the exact same issue. Except I have a loud whining noise which I thought might have been coming from the alternator. I decided to lube up the suspension and noticed the exact same thing as the pictures posted show. Taking mine in tomorrow morning. This sucks.......

Make sure you let them know to check the bellhousing gasket!

The first time around they just looked at it and said it was oil from my blown shocks, then i made them check the gaskets and they were shot.

It's a definite oil leak, but.. why??

Taking it in to Toyota ASAP tomorrow.. Let me know of anything i should be asking.
PM Todd (Air2Air) and tell him you want your oil pan back. I hear he got a slightly used one to replace his cracked pan.

Did you ever determine what was causing all that heat?

Re: Leak, and overheating.. Help??

I don't understand how a failed bell housing gasket could cause a leak. There's no fluid inside the bell housing that I am aware of. The flywheel and torque converter are protected by the bell housing and that's it IIRC. Fluid coming from the interface between the tranny and bell housing to me would be indicative of a rear main seal, the front transmission shaft seal or a damaged torque converter.

That was one of the seals that were replaced. i thought i replied in this thread but i don't know where it went: there were more than 2 seals replaced and a pump replaced. In the pictures, that is all transmission fluid you see. forgive me i don't know exactly what was replaced, except for the bellhousing one.

I think you had your rear main seal replaced as well as the front pump seal on the trans.

I blew a seal once.... I also had an affair with a shark....

Re: Leak, and overheating.. Help??

What pump was replaced? I have been overheating lately, but showing on Scangauge and rising rapidly. My rad has been cleaned, degreased, and pressure washed. Clean filters, new Mobil1 and still running hot. Water pump maybe?
