Supercharger in hand! Now what?

Figure that I start a new thread for people who recently purchased the SC in the group buy. Just received mine today! Now, I am interested in what others have done in conjunction with installing their SC? Fuel pump upgrade? Pulley upgrade and other mods. Lessons learned would be great. I am on the fence about the fuel pump upgrade because TRD states that the SC was designed utilizing the stock fuel pump and filter. Should I do it or am I wasting money on something that does not matter and provides no benefit?

Let the fun begin!

Re: Supercharger in hand! Now what?

Remember the fuel pump change is only necessary if you are asking for more than it was designed for.

The TRD system was designed to work fine with the stock fuel pump.
Get an Ultragage, or Torque, or something similar that reads engine information off the OBDII and confirm your air/fuel ratio at WOT for yourself after installation if you want to be sure. Then decide.

Regarding the smaller pulley: just remember that the farther you deviate from the "stock" supercharger system design the more you will tend to shorten the life of the engine. How much? Who knows. Just saying that the TRD design ought to work for 100, 200, 300k miles on a healthy engine. There is no real harm in having fun, just realize that having more fun than designed will have, at some point, consequences.

However, just like a 2 or 3" lift, and huge, heavy wheels/tires (35", for instance) will shorten the life of the entire suspension and driveline doesn't mean that you shouldn't do it, just be realistic about the tradeoffs when you do.

What size pulley is that? It looks like they actually ship a URD pulley with it.

Hahaha, You noticed. I got the URD pulley and fuel pump/filter upgrade last week. I slipped it in the box for the pic.

Re: Supercharger in hand! Now what?

Look forward to seeing it installed! Maybe you can do lots of photos like a "How To" and then post up on a specific thread your install of it! It would be very informative for the community!

Re: Supercharger in hand! Now what?

What should be a fair price to install the supercharger? How much are people paying? Quotes?

I live in the bay area, and wondering if these quotes are insane?
10hr @ $145/hr, no warranty unless purchased by them and +10% of internet price
8-10hr @ $120.00, too excited and forgot to ask about warranty

And a friend of a friend's shop which I have yet to ask for exact price, but the owner said it will be much cheaper than those above. I am gonna find out how much this shop will charge and if it's still too much, I'd do it myself.

this puzzles me a bit since I mentioned it on one of your early threads after joining the forum. See here (post 5 of 8):

Looking for FJ performance parts, cai and exhaust

And then on post 6 of 8 you indicated that a supercharger was out of the budget.

I also spelled out what the group buy price was in that thread!
