Re: Fuel Economy

The best three I have gotten are : 27.164, 27.162, and 27.012 mpg.

5AT, bone stock, all synthetics, 32 psi on stock tires, hi-altitude, highway driving at 65 mph.

Re: Fuel Economy

If you were to add aftermarket exhaust, spacer and cold air intake, would that help? Thanks alot Pony Rider! God Bless

Re: Fuel Economy

Not for me. I don't see how. Hi-alt, highway driving at 65 mph is about 1800 rpm with the 5AT, the items you mentioned are pretty much useless at those rpm. The FJ already comes from the factory with a CAI. It's not a hi-perf. CAI, but it's a CAI non-the-less. At 1,800 rpm on the highway there's very little back pressure to worry about so a cat-back provides little value there. The spacer is a waste on money on these engines.

My 1.5 cents (adjusted for inflation).

Re: Fuel Economy

5AT is the 5 speed automatic transmission
6MT is the 6 speed manual transmission
CAI is the cold air intake

You should know that the numbers I posted are not the norm at all. For some reason my FJ gets terrific fuel mileage. Most others do not. It probably has a lot to do with the altitude at which I drive and I only drive rural & highway miles only. Very little city miles, and I'm not a lead foot.

Re: Fuel Economy

I have been getting 18.5 mpg around town stopping and starting half the time and running 50-55 the other half. I have lately been running the a/c constantly so I think I am doing pretty well. I have an 07 TRD SE, automatic, bone stock with BFG AT's. I also did an experiment this week between 93 and 89 and there was no change in fuel economy.

Re: Fuel Economy

I have no idea, I gave up on figuring it out years ago.

Al I know is when the yellow light comes on I better have $65.00 on hand to fuel up.
