semisynthetic 10-40 oil GOOD/BAD??

hi guys

I recently changed my oil to semisynthetic 10-40. Are there any negative aspects of using this oil, rather then toyota recommended 5-30?

I'm a little occ.... I worry about my fj constantly

If you worry about your FJ.... Why would you change to that? Not that it will hurt anything short term. But, if you don't know, stick with what is recommended.

Where do you live? What temps do you expect to see in the next 3mo?

Layonnn will have the best answer to your question though... i'm sure he'll chime in soon.

well I figured 10-40 semi synthetic must be better then 5-30 mineral.....

The FJ comes with semisynthetic from the factory.

then after the first oil change what does toyota change it to? Mine was changed to reguar valvoline dino...nothing special just regular old valvoline that costs me 60 dolalrs for an oil change this is at the dealer......

What brand of oil? Where do you live? What are the expected low temps, and the high temps, during the time you'll run this oil?

fall started few days ago, so i expect fall temps, this viscosity must help in winter too

Fall temps vary depending on where your at.

I wouldn't worry about it causing any problems by doing it one time. Just change it back to the 5w-30 at your next change.
