Show me your roof top tents

Mods/admins, a section devoted to camping gear such as tents, roof top tents, cooking gear, sleeping bags, ect, would be cool.

If you have a RTT, post 'em up.
I have debated for awhile now on what type to buy, and after lots of research on price, will it fit my stock rack, I decided on the Autohome AirLand medium model like member Wayne (KD7NAC_07FJ) has on his rig.

Here is the model.

It works with the stock Rack, the only thing I needed to get extra was the Yakima crossbars and Lowrider towers for the tent to sit on.
That stuff just showed up today, and Autohome just offloaded their trailer from Italy where these are made, and are shipping my tent to the local dealer today.

Mine will be installed next Friday if it makes it in on time.

I will update my buildup thread and website with pictures and links after I get it.
Getting excited here, as I use to do a lot of camping in the past when I had a nice tent trailer when my boy's were much younger.

Getting back into it again, but it is going to be more spartan this time around with less luxuries, which is OK with me.

It will be nice to get off of work on a Friday, shower up at home, and then leave with the rig already packed from the night before with the ARB fridge full of vittles, H20, and other goodies.

Still have a few more items to pick up such as the Pett crapper system, and a small table to set the camp stove on.
I have a nice folding table now, but it is a little big to bring along in the FJ.

Looking at these, it might fit the job.

Wow! Very nice. I'm sure you'll have some nice, peaceful nights of rest in there.

As for the special section, I'll run it accross the other mods

Maybe a Camping/Expedtition type forum.

Thanks, that would be great to keeping Camping/Expedition type of gear threads all in one easy place.

These tents work great to with sheets and a down comforter.
Autohome also suggested to me today to get a thin feather bed to go underneath the sheets, it will make it even better.

The cool thing is you can leave all of your bedding in place too.
I am betting I can leave that porta-crapper and a camping table up there too to save room in the FJ.

The FJs are lacking some room inside, especially when the back is crammed with a cargobox and ARB fridge.

Very cool. I like the stowed low profile of this one compared to others I've seen, and the benefit of a hard top and bottom.

this is the type i currently have . I am thinking of going to the Clipper style tent in the future ( some time later this year ) Although this traditional style appeals to me.

I like the idea of a rooftop tent as I want to travel in the back county but always have a dry bed for my wife and myself. What I would be interested in ....Is there a rooftop model that you can strap a canoe on top of?

any folding type roof top tent will suport a canoe . the pop up does not have the strength as it is not designed for supporting weight. My Tents are Aluminum bases with a polyetheline foam sandwiched in between. The only draw back is the ladder is mounted at the centre so it may make it awkward tightening down a canoe.

Regarding whether it's possible to have a canoe on top, yes that's possible. I've been looking into roof-top tents and it seems three models from Autohome do this:

AutoHome Maggiolina (Extreme, Grand Tour and Safari models) have roof bars so you mount stuff on top.
Same goes for AutoHome Columbus.
The AutoHome Overcamp can mount on the side so there's place on the rack for a canoe.

For all the models (and pictures with canoes!), check www.autohome.it - for the models that are available in US, check www.autohomeus.com. They apparently don't have all the models available in the US, but maybe ask them. (Btw, I am not in any way related to Autohome.)
