Tents

Im looking for a self-erecting text a.k.a viagra tent
I've heard of a company in France that made these, but they apparently went out of business. Basically its a tent that you toss up in the air and it deploys itself before it touches the ground. Fit's 2-3 people. Does anyone know of a place that sells these?
Here's of pic of what im talking about

Re: Tents

Wow, that's pretty cool. That would be perfect for bad weather camping ... instead of pitching your tent in a tsunami.

Although ... a self pitching tent seems to defeat the purpose of camping IMO.

Quick pitching tents.

In french, but what your looking for.

Pretty neat ... they found somebody on ebay willing to ship them to the states ... take a peek.

Re: Tents

nice...thanks for the link. I usually dont arrive at the campsite until after dark, and I hate setting up at night. I think this tent will solve all my problems.

Re: Tents

I agree, and of all the things I never liked about camping, pitching the tent was right at the top! Thanks for sharing.

Re: Tents

Damnit, with the US dollar at an all time low, this tent costs about $200-250 with shipping from the UK. $ 1 = £ 0.5. Damn you George Bush

Re: Tents

It sucks doesn't it when this amount seems so high and out of reach?

Re: Tents

look at some of the Sierra Design tents, I can set up my orion in easily 2-3 minutes in the wind, it will take the elements much better than some of those popup tents, plus those popups take up too much room in your rig when they are folded down, and often times they are a pain to pack back down in the wind. I worked at an outdoor/camping/backpacking/flyfishing store in college and we rarely saw any issues with the sierra design tents, they are fantastic, some of the three season tents can handle four season conditions... i love 'em

Hehe ... I'd listen to cannondale .... lubbock is the wind capital of the world

I didn't have any tents in particular in mind, but I know there are plenty of quick and painless setups out there, ones that don't require fumbling or searching for a particular loophole ect...

Good luck with the tent hunt.
