Re: REI Equipment

REI is a great store/catalog. They carry good quality stuff.Make sure you become a member of REI. That way you will get dividends on the yearly money you spend. Cash back is always a nice.

Re: REI Equipment

REI has the best stuff. Not only brands they carry, but their in house stuff is great. We have tents, backpacks, boots and clothing; all REI Brand, and it's all supperb quaility.

They may not support 4wheeling, but that ok, lots of others do. It's how we get balance. When I'm hiking I don't hear engines, and when I'm wheeling, I don't run over hikers.

Re: REI Equipment

Also a REI card holder for years n years! I drive past the flagship store in Seattle everyday to/from work. Service is great. All my seasonal sporting stuff I check out there first, and then go to ebay or craigslist. If you are local to a store, check out their garage sales, they are GREAT! I got my THULE Revolver bike rack for 75% off with nothing but a strap missing! I attend a bunch of their local activities like the seattle to portland (STP) bike clissic. All in all they have great outdoor stuff that lasts.

Cabelas is pretty new to the area (IMO), but Lacy is out of the way for me. I'll go when I'm in the area.

As far as not doing buisness with them because of their views... If I did that there would be a lot of places and things that I would have to stop doing.

From the words of the comic strip The Boondocks "The absence of evidence is not evidence of absence." (Yes, that doesn't make sense to me either, but I thought I'd share)

Re: REI Equipment

I will NEVER support a company that ACTIVELY pursues shutting down OHV access. Never. I can't believe so many people here don't care about OHV access.

It's one thing to support "green" causes. That's fine. It's another to purposely oppose OHV access. A portion of every dollar that you spend at REI contributes to reduced OHV access. Why did you by an off road capable vehicle? Do you want to be able to travel to the same places 10 years from now that you can today? If REI has their way, you may not be able to do that.

Re: REI Equipment

I used my Big House 4 tent by Big Agnes this weekend. Got it on sale at REI, along w/ the floor pad and vestibule.

Great tent, fit our family of four w/ room to spare. Very easy setup and kept us dry during the 1 day of rain.

Sorry, but DO NOT BUY FROM REI.

Unless you would rather walk the trails than drive on them

Del Albright Home Page
I did not know this, thanks! Besides being over-priced around here I have another reason to dislike them and this one will keep me out of there even when I can't find it out Bass Pro, Sports Authority or Gander Mountain.
