Re: Expedition One new product: Geri

Bump

I actually wondered that myself...
would it be worse to have manufacturing crap mixed in with the
gas or some crummy tap water in with the fuel?

I sloshed a little gas around in mine and dumped it into a large jar. I couldn't see any sediment or plastic. I think they're good to go from Exp. I asked Sarah at Exp. about using any vinegar to clean the water geri and she said it didn't need it so I just rinsed it once and filled it. Water is good to drink.
I like these cans and have them both on the stock roof.

I have had them both (gas and water) flat on the stock roof rack. No leaks. They do seem to move around a little with the velcro strips but I think Ex1 is working on a different approach for securing them. Even so I think they are great.

Re: Expedition One new product: Geri

Actually, the NEW Kolpin tank is similar to the Geri. The OLD Kolpin tank did not integrate the handles and recessed spout. Of course, the NEW Kolpin tank is post-Geri.(lol)

Question Re: Expedition One new product: Geri

[When Geri met Sandi]

Geri arrived today via FedEx, and this evening, I fed him 4 gallons of premium (don't start) from the local gas station, and mounted him (oh, stop!!) on the roof rack.

Leaving tomorrow for Texas. This should help if I ever again have an incident where I forget about gas. I've never been stranded on a long trip (when I've forgot a time or two, it wasn't so bad that I couldn't make it to the next gas station down the highway), but still.

Questions...

1. To fill or not to fill
Since it claims to be a 4 gallon container, I stopped when the meter on the pump got to 4 gallons. There is quite a bit of empty space at the top. That's OK, right (sorry, had an auxiliary gas can before)?

2. Attachment
The accompanying velcro straps work fine, but what other ideas are out there for mounting on the stock roof rack? It's just that, a) it's a bit difficult to get the straps very tight, and b) I'm not sure if I put them in the right places (of course, it's up to me, but still).....where did you put the straps? I put mine on the four corners. Does it need one in the middle, or is it fine just having the corners tied down?

Thanks.
