Re: Expedition One new product: Geri

Too bad you have to cut off the tire brace though.

I'm thinking they should redesign the bracket to allow the brace to come through.

Here are some shots of how I modified my Blitz can holder to allow the brace to remain and support the spare.

Good point. Cutting off the brace is a non-starter!

As far as I can tell the bracket is only there to help you load and align the heavy spare onto the studs. After the spare is on the studs and is bolted down the bracket does nothing. I wasn't sad to see it go at all. Only thing that was a pain was cutting it off with my little Dremel.

Re: Expedition One new product: Geri

You're probably right, but think of it this way, you wouldn't have to cut the brace off, and the spare would be that much easier to wrestle back on the studs.

Great feedback. Not cutting would make installation a 10 minute job and would make my extra heavy spare a little easier to install. Cutting the bracket off makes Expedition One's bracket a little stronger but I have no idea if needs the extra strength.

Re: Expedition One new product: Geri

Put over 1k miles on the FJ this past weekend and the bracket held up great! BTW, Geri fits perfectly between the rails and supports of ARB's rack. Notice the white Geri in the picture.

Re: Expedition One new product: Geri

I got two of these for the last trip to Moab. Delivery time took longer than the 2 days I was quoted, but good phone service. I ratchet strapped them to the ARB roof rack, both filed with 4.5gal US. I ran Elephant Hill, Steelbender and the beginning of Moab Rim (blown diff, ouch).

During those three days I watched them expand and contract with hot/cold temps. No leaks to date. I did not keep them inside the vehicle, so don't know about out-gassing. Overall, very handy and easy to store/manipulate. At the end of the three days, I dumped the fuel into the tank and was pleased by the rapid flow rate without spillage.
