Re: New Expedition Style, Offroad Trailer!!! WARNING: Picture overload!

I am in negoiations with a large sporting goods store to make them. I will continue to build for the FJ circle.

Their requirements will be bone, bare trailer. I will offer a fully loaded one.

I have pictures of the new one, in process and pictures of one set up in full camp mode. If you would like I will email them to you, but I am not a sponsoring vendor and I do not want to use this venue to display the pictures. Not fair so to speak.

PM me if you are interested in seeing them.

Re: New Expedition Style, Offroad Trailer!!! WARNING: Picture overload!

The tongue wait is in direct proportion to the amount of fuel and water you carry. The batteries are in the front box. So it is not light. But fully loaded I have towed one over 100 miles and hour behind a GMC Dually. Never had the FJ above 85. The trailer tows excellent.

Most of the weight is in the front of the trailer. Without fuel and water you can lift it on the hitch if you had to. I never do. Fully loaded it will be near 300 pounds is my guess. but you need to be aware of what you are packing in the trailer and load heavier items to the rear, as you would anyway for unloading. IE Frige and generator..

I may have the opportunity to get you the exact weight loaded and unloaded in the next few days.

Re: New Expedition Style, Offroad Trailer!!! WARNING: Picture overload!

Sounds like too much weight up front. I had my batteries on the tongue and it was way to heavy at 130 lbs. I carry my battery box , water and gas over the axle as best as I can configure. I can move the trailer much better solo than before. Hope this helps.

Wow Bob! I too can't believe I missed this thread. Had I known of your fine handy work I most likely would have just turned my Tentrax I picked up last year and set aside the dough while I waited in line for one of yours. Great Job Bob. Handsome and sturdy indeed.

Re: New Expedition Style, Offroad Trailer!!! WARNING: Picture overload!

The only way to truly make the trailer useful with out having the tongue weight is to place the water and the fuel under the trailer. The problem with that is that your trailer ends up bing quite tall. Not much chance of tip over do to the height but it really looks strange. The trailers are not very long so adding to height makes it look awkward.

The trailer has a roll jack on it. And the articulating hitch is very easy to hook up. My wife at 120 pounds can hook up the trailer fully loaded with water, fuel, batteries and food, clothing for a week trip. Actually quite easily.

The new trailer does have the batteries in the back for counter weighting. It has a little more fuel on board and a little less water.
