I know the FJ back door has to open, but isn't the tongue longer than it has to be. I'm no trailer guy but I would think you'd like the trailer as close to the rig as possible. There's probably trailer dynamics that I don't know about.
I'm guessing the tongue is long for trailer articulation and so that it is hard to hit the body of the FJ

Re: New Expedition Style, Offroad Trailer!!! WARNING: Picture overload!

In honesty we are deciding what is the best length. The whole tongue of the trailer is a receiver thickness piece of steel. It can be cut to change the length. It is the main back bone of the trailer, and I can promise you, that you have never seen anything like it. It is all structural steel.

I will ask Matt to post some pictures of the under carriage, as that is what I am the most proud of.

And thanks to all that have made such wonderful comments. I am striving to make the best trailer on the market, we are close, but there are still things that can be done.

I agree with Bob about the structural integrity of the trailer. It is ROCK SOLID.
I'll do my best to get some pictures of the undercarriage up tomorrow.

NICE work Bob. I will be following your various builds, mostly because you have passion (instead of dollar signs) driving your quest. Good job.

Re: New Expedition Style, Offroad Trailer!!! WARNING: Picture overload!

So Matt lost his mind just long enough to allow me to drive his truck while pulling the trailer! It doesn't feel like you're pulling anything and I just love it! Can't wait to take it to Ouray!

Could you attach a pintle type hook onto that?

- Solo

(BTW I think I found something I love more than a TenTrax)
